Should capital punishment be legal?

      Capital punishment is one of the most debated topics around the world. Generally, the people split in two groups, the ones in favor and the ones against it. I believe that Capital Punishment should not be permitted but murderers should be sentenced to life imprisonment and forced to do hard work.
      Everyone has an inalienable right to life, even murderers, and killing them would be a violation to that right. Moreover, many people believe that retribution is an immoral form of vengeance: If you kill a murderer, you are as bad as him/her. What’s more, there can be people wrongfully convicted, as it happened in the movie “The life of David Gayle” where a man was wrongfully sentenced to death penalty and eventually killed for a crime he didn’t committed. Also, capital punishment is very expensive. For instance, the cost of convicting and executing Timothy McVeigh in Oklahoma City was over $13 million. All this money could have been spent in a better cause.
      Even though death penalty is not a suitable solution for punishing criminals, it’s true that if they are executed, criminals cannot commit future crimes. Moreover, many people believe that the crime should “fit” the punishment so if you kill, you have to be killed.
       Despite the fact that there are arguments in favor of capital punishment, there are many more against. That’s why I believe that capital punishment should not be permitted, and instead criminals should face life imprisonment and forced to do hard work.
